Wall Stabilization and Basement Waterproofing in Owensville, IN

Challenge

A couple recently reached out to Healthy Spaces because they just purchased a home in Owensville, IN. A couple of weeks ago when we received a lot of rain, their basement flooded, which caused them to have to tear out everything out of the basement from water damage. When they tore down the drywall, they noticed cracks in their walls.

The homeowners were very eager to meet with our Design Specialist, Abe Ford, to see how we could help their home. Abe visited the home to complete a thorough evaluation of the problematic basement. Afterward, Abe discussed his findings with the Owensville homeowners, as well as their goals for a repair project. Abe recommended some of our reliable basement waterproofing and foundation repair solutions.

Solution

Abe proposed that our basement crew waterproof the basement with WaterGuard interior drainage system, TripleSafe Sump Pump, and an external IceGuard. He also recommended reinforcing the basement walls with PowerBrace beams.

The first step is to stabilize the foundation walls with PowerBraces. The PowerBrace is a patented foundation wall repair system that's designed to stabilize failing basement walls and provide the potential to straighten walls over time. That means it can actually improve the condition of the wall over time, unlike other I-Beam systems.

To address the seeping water problem, the WaterGuard system was installed in the sub-floor and atop the footer. WaterGuard system separates it from the soil under your floor so it will never clog. It also has a special wall flange that creates a neat space between the floor and the wall to drain any wall seepage, without allowing dirt and debris from the floor to enter. The system intercepts water from the walls and floor and directs the water to the TripleSafe sump pump. The TripleSafe drains water from the WaterGuard and from below the basement floor and discharges it out of the basement. Included with the TripleSafe are two reliable cast iron Zoeller pumps and a battery back-up pump.
