Waterguard Installation in Dale, IN
Challenge
This Dale, IN basement was constantly wet. The moisture was seeping up from the joint between the wall and floor. This sort of water intrusion is very common throughout Spencer county. With a minimum percepitation of 3" per month, the ground is fairly moist and basement seepage is noted in most residences.
This home needed some help quickly to prevent mold problems.
The homeowners met with Scott Thompson, a System Design Specialist with Healthy Spaces, regarding possible solutions to the basement water problem. Scott recommended using a Waterguard system to remove the water along the footer. There were two challenges with accomplishing this installation:
1. The homeowners have young children and needed the system installed without disrupting the Christmas celebration
2. A large section of the backyard is flat and covered in a heavy wooden playset
Solution
The installation team arrived just days before Christmas and immediately began breaking out the trenches for the 46 linear feet of Waterguard. Once the trenches were cleaned out and the Waterguard placed in the trench, the inspection port was installed. The next day, the team was able to install the Supersump sump pump and concrete in the Waterguard. They also began digging the discharge line trench through the backyard. About 9 ft of the 20' line had to be hand dug to keep the playset from damage.
The last day on the job, the installation team buried the discharge line and tamped down the soil, as well as performing a final clean up of the workspaces.
The job was finished with a day to spare and the homeowners were very excited to have a dry basement for Christmas!
