Wet Basement Wall Repair in Lewisport, KY
Challenge
Wet basements, especially wet finished basements, can be a huge hassle to deal with. This Lewisport, KY home was wet constantly with wall based water intrusion. The homeowners were hoping to finish the basement, but were reluctant until they could discover a way to stop the flooding. One issue that they had was the downspout for the gutters needed extending. The downspouts were dumping water right next to the foundation and that water was running down the basement walls. Another problem was the exterior door into the basement. Rainwater was leaking through the bottom of the door and running down the basement stairs.
Solution
Damon, a basement waterproofing specialist with Healthy Spaces, came out and performed a thorough inspection to help the homeowners create a custom waterproofing solution. He noted that the downspout next to the exterior door, as well as a drainage channel for that door, could be tied into the discharge line and directed far away from the house.
On the interior of the basement, Damon recommended a perimeter drainage channel system called WaterGuard. WaterGuard is an excellent application because the system can catch wall moisture and groundwater intrusion. The homeowners elected to install Brightwall with the WaterGuard system to isolate the finished basement space from the water moisture. The WaterGuard system will connect to a SuperSump sump pump with battery back up and WaterWatch alarm. From there, the water will be expelled through a rigid discharge line far away from the basement.
