Seal Out 'Evil" Outside Air
As you can see in this photo, this homeowner is not protected by any crawl space door. Sealing all openings where outside air can get into your crawl space, is a major necessity. Once we've treated for mold and installed a dehumidifier, it's pointless if the crawl space is still exposed. You can never dehumidify a space that has exposed earth, outside ar leaking into it, or one that keeps leaking water.
Water Vapor Needs to be Addressed
This crawl space has a layer of gravel on the dirt floor. This does nothing to stop the water vapor from rising into the house. That's why Healthy Spaces will need to install a sealed liner encapsulation system.
Stop Water Vapor from the Floor
The first step to stop water vapor from the floor, is we needed to lay down a vapor barrier of 6 mil plastic. The vapor barrier stops the moisture.
