Signs of Foundation Settlement
There are many signs and symptoms that indicate your home is experiencing a foundation settlement problem.
Cracking in Brick Foundation
Settlement is the movement your home experiences when the soil below can no longer support its weight. Your home is resting on many different layers of soil. And the constant cycle of wet and dry periods is a major factor in settlement.
Vertical Cracks
As vertical cracks form and the wall or corner of the house begins to rotate, you will typically see cracks that are wider at the top or bottom.
Foundation Cracks
If left unrepaired, this kind of damage can worsen until the wall fails completely or is beyond repair.
Vertical Cracks
As your home continues to settle further, verticle cracks may widen. This indicates that the wall is rotating.
Solutions For Foundation Settlement
Stabilizing your home's foundation is serious business. First, you'll need a trustworthy, specialized contractor. Next, you'll need to be sure they can offer solutions that will solve your problem permanently. There are some options to avoid such as: Total Foundation Replacement, Concrete Underpinning, and Concrete Piers.
Options That Work - Push Piers
First, the soil is removed from around your foundation's footing, where the pier will be installed. Then a section of your slab floor will need to be removed to expose the footing.
Securing The Foundation Bracket
A specially engineered steel bracket is placed under the footing. The foundation bracket is installed before the piers are driven into the earth.
Installing Steel Push Piers
The hollow steel piers are installed in sections, that are connected to each other. Each extension is hydraulically driven down through the bracket to bedrock or a stable soil layer. These steel piers are the strongest component of the foundation pier system and are responsible for transferring the weight of your home
We Work Even Through Wet Weather
Tad and his crew had to work through some wet weather to get the footer prepped for pier installation.
Stablize, Repair, & Restore Your Foundation
Once all piers have been installed, the weight of the home is transferred from the concrete foundation, through the steel bracket and piers, to the deep load-bearing soil or bedrock. A lift can then be attempted to bring the home back toward its original postition.
Soil Backfilled
Once the stabilization and lift are completed, the soil is backfilled.
Project Completed
The entire system is hidden from view. The structure is now permanently stabilized in its new position!
