Water Vapor on Block Walls
Block walls are porous, which means that they suck up water from the ground, making a wet surface on the inside of the crawl space walls to evaporate into the house.
6 Mil Plastic in Crawl Space
Installing 6 mil polyethylene in a crawl space is not the best solution. It easily rips and gets holes poked in it when you crawl on it.
6 Mil Plastic in Crawl Space
6 mil plastic is also very difficult to attach to walls and can be easily pulled down.
Non-existent Moisture Barrier
In this photo you can see that the 6 mil plastic isn't acting much as a moisture barrier since it's not covering the whole crawl space floor.
Debris Removal
In the previous before photos, you can see that there was previously plastic laid down. Before we could do any type of work, our team first had to remove all the old plastic.
Drainage Line
Here you can see the EZ Flow drainage line. Once installed, it'll be buried.
Installing Drainage Matting
Crawl space liners rest directly on the crawl space floor. If your crawl space is flooding, water can be trapped underneath, never making it to your perimeter drain. The raised dimples on our CleanSpace® Drainage Matting gives the water flooding into your crawl space a channel underneath your crawl space liner.
Drainage Matting Continued
This then directs the water flooding your crawl space to the perimeter drain and into the sump pump system.
Installing CleanSpace Liner
After we finished installing the drainage matting, we began installing the CleanSpace liner all on the walls and the floor of the crawl space.
Extreme Makeover, Crawl Space Edition
CleanSpace is a 20 mil thick plastic liner, similar to a pool liner, that's fitted in your crawl space to completely seal off your home from the earth.
CleanSpace is Incredibly Durable
CleanSpace is bright white, which dramatically transforms your crawl space from the nasty pit it was to one you wouldn't hesitate to slide around in.
Encapsulation Prevents Mold Growth
As an added benefit, CleanSpace has an antimicrobial additive manufactured into the material, which prevents mold growth on the liner.
Additional Benefits of Crawl Space Encapsulation
Along with protection from mold and rot, a dry crawl space will also be inhospitable to termites, cockroaches, ants, crickets, and many other pests that need excess moisture to survive.
Not Just Any Dehumidifier
The SaniDry Sedona is a high-capacity, high-efficiency dehumidification system. The SaniDry takes up to 100 pints of water per day out of the crawl space air while using the same energy as a 40-pint dehumidifier. The SaniDry air system wrings the air dry, and it's blower moves that dry air into and around the crawl space. The dry air then dries the building materials, which makes the damp smell and damp feeling go away. This makes a HUGE difference.
Crawl Space Sump Pump
The SmartSump has a 1/3 hp cast iron pump in a strong durable sump liner with holes in it to accept water from the ground. It also has an airtight lid to keep moisture and bugs out, and a WaterWatch alarm system to let you know if there is ever a plumbing leak, pump problem, or power failure.

Another View
You can visually see that this crawl space is a healthier environment then what it was before these homeowners called Healthy Spaces.
