Photo Album: Newburgh, IN Crawl Space Transformation

Thomas R., a Newburgh, IN homeowner, was suspecting there were issues in his crawl space affecting his whole home. The hardwood floors above the crawl space were slightly damp and uneven. The creaked every time you would walk on them, and the rugs were also damp, pointing to a pretty nasty humidity problem. He knew that he needed a solution, so he called Healthy Spaces. One of our Design Specialist came to Thomas' home to do a thorough inspection and help put a plan together. The crawl space would need a new sump pump, as well as a few other things. In addition to encapsulating with our CleanSpace vapor barrier, we installed a new drainage system, SilverGlow insulation, a SaniDry humidifier, and an EverLast door.

Outdated Window Wells

These window wells are rusty and old letting in leaves, debris, rain, and gutter overflow which find the path of least resistance and flow right into the crawl space.

Mold Growth from High Humidity

The damp crawl space and high humidity levels created the perfect home for mold to grow and thrive, causing the musty smell these homeowners noticed. The Stack Effect explains why air moves from the crawl space up to other areas in the home, meaning mold spores from the crawl space are present in other areas of the home.

Damp and Humid Crawl Space

Porous concrete walls and the exposed earth in this crawl space allowed water and water vapor to continuously occupy the space, leading to high humidity levels and a damp crawl space.

With this new EverLast door on the crawl space, it will stop air and moisture from entering. This door won't rot, warp, or need paint, and bugs also can't eat it.

Efficient Sump Pump

This TripleSafe sump pump is an efficient sump pump system that includes an airtight lid with a drain, a sump pump stand and a pump alarm. The airtight lid prevents any water in the sump from evaporating into the space, creating high moisture levels. The drain in the lid accepts water in case of a flood but is specially designed to only let water in and not let water vapor escape.

SaniDry Sedona Dehumidification System

The SaniDry Sedona is an effective dehumidification system that eliminates moisture in the crawl space air. The dry air is filtered to remove any unwanted particles and then the powerful blower distributes the air throughout the space.

Waterproof Liner

CleanSpace is a durable plastic liner that is installed in a crawl space to keep the outside environment from entering the space. It is securely fastened to the walls so it will stay in place.

IceGuard x2

The IceGuard system is installed at the end of a discharge line that includes holes that let water exit the crawl space even if the pipe is frozen. This will ensure water will not go back into your space, which can cause it to flood.
