The foundation of your home matters, especially when a repair is needed. A home in Newburgh, Indiana had cracks on the walls of the cellar. The foundation needed to be permanently fixed before damaging the floor above the space by making it sag or slant. Once the homeowner contacted Healthy Spaces about their concerns, we came over and gave a FREE inspection. The inspection brought attention to the foundation just as the homeowner suspected and immediately scheduled an appointment to permanently fix the issue.
To lift the home back up to its original position, the push pier system was the best choice. Push piers are made of steel which permanently stabilizes the home's foundation. It can also lift the home back towards level, closing any cracks and improving the operation of doors and windows in the home. The push pier system is installed by removing soil around the foundation's footing and placing a specially engineered steel bracket under it. The steel piers are hydraulically driving through the bracket to a stable soil layer. The weight of the home is then transferred from the concrete foundation, through the steel bracket and piers, to the deep load-bearing soil or bedrock. Once the stabilization and lift are completed, the soil is backfilled, covering the system that was just put in. The homeowner was pleased to find the foundation fixed with a hidden yet permanent solution.
