Wet Basement with Mold in Fordsville, KY
Challenge
Ken B. in Fordsville, KY had bought a property and the home was suffering from a wet basement and crawl space. Since the home had both a basement and crawl space, he knew he had to get the water issues taken care of before moving on to his next phase of the project.
Water had been seeping up through the floor and was causing damage to the home. The water in both the basement and crawl space had created a musty smell throughout the home and he was concerned that the air quality was being impacted. Mold was also another issue in the home, so he wanted to get that taken care of as well.
Solution
We were able to solve the wet basement problems by installing our WaterGuard drainage system around the perimeter of the basement floor and tying it into a sump pump so that the water can properly drain. Water is now properly guided through the drainage system to the sump pump, and from there the water is discharged from the home. His basement is now a dry, healthier space.
As for the mold, our team worked to remove all the debris and organic material from the basement and crawl space joists. With that out of the way, they could start the mold removal process. The first step is to seal off openings to prevent cross-contamination. The second step is to remove airborne contaminants by using air scrubbers. Next, we used a HEPA vacuum to remove any loose contaminants. And lastly, we applied a solution that foams on contact, then it penetrates the soil load which will leave a contaminate free surface.
