Flooding Basement in Henderson, KY Repaired
Challenge
Moisture is essential in soil—it’s a lubricant that traps air and allows soil particles to slide together. But too much of a good thing is a bad thing. They noticed that existing cracks in their foundation walls were weeping water, they had a higher relative humidity than the rest of their home, as well as struggling with ongoing mold problems. They also noticed water bubbling up from their floor drain.
The homeowners in Henderson, KY discovered that they had water everywhere when they had Healthy Spaces in to repair their leaking basement. As soon as the installation team started to trench for the Waterguard installation, the trenches began filling up with water! This isn't unusual, as many basements are wet all the time. The Healthy Spaces team had procedures in place to remove the water from the work area and be able to install the system quickly.
The installation team realized that there was so much groundwater trapped in the walls that they drilled several drainage ports to direct the water into the Waterguard system. This will prevent future flooding problems.
Solution
First, the Healthy Spaces team drilled several drainage holes into the block foundation wall to allow the walls to drain into the Waterguard system. They installed the CleanSpace Wall System on all the walls to direct water from the walls and close that water off from the basement interior. Next, the team installed the perimeter french drain system called Waterguard and connected that to the TripleSafe Sump pump system with battery back up. The most effective part of the TripleSafe system is three pumps, complete with battery back up. This powerful system is attached to the dual discharge lines, with IceGuard freeze prevention attachements and lawnscapes.
