Muldraugh, KY Basement is Dry ALL the Time!

Challenge

This Muldraugh, KY home was the dream purchase for these young homeowners.  Over the years, they customized it to fit their needs and thoroughly enjoyed it.  The one area of the home that wasn't so dream-like was the basement.  It leaked.  It leaked often and it ruined many priceless momentos, including Mrs. H's wedding dress.  The homeowners decided that something permenant needed to be done in order to keep the basement dry ALL the time.  They met with Damon Cheatham, design specialist, with Healthy Spaces to design a custom system that would keep the basement dry and not break the bank.  

The first challenge was the budget.  The homeowners didn't want to take out equity from the home to finance the repair, nor did they want to dip into savings.  Thankfully, Healthy Spaces offers several financing options including 6 months same as cash.  The budget challenge was quickly resolved with a personal loan that wasn't equity draining.

The second challenge was the space itself,  The basement was narrow and full of various plastic tubs, plastic wrapped weight equipment, and other items.  The homeowners simply didn't have anywhere else to move the items, nor did they have the muscle to shift everything out and back down again.

Solution

Damon inspected the basement and determined that the amount of actual space that the installation crew needed to install the Waterguard system would not require the stored items to be moved.  They simply needed to be piled in the center of the basement and thoroughly wrapped in protective plastic.  Even then, concrete dust would still be a cleanup concern.  Mrs. H was thrilled to know that she wouldn't need to hire movers to get their stuff out and was fine with a little dust if it meant the basement would be usable again!

The installation crew arrived and shifted the stored items to the appropriate location in the center of the basement, wrapped them in plastic, and set to work making the basement dry ALL the time.

They installed 114 linear feet of Waterguard around the perimeter of the basement, a SuperSump Zoeller sump pump, and a rigid discharge line with IceGuard and Lawnscape.  The entire project took only 3 days and the homeowners are thrilled with their new space!  Mrs. H said, "You all did such a great job!  I was very impressed at the level of professionalism you all brought. And really great workmanship. I will be raving about you on Facebook to all my friends!!!"
