Nasty Crawlspace in Rockport, KY

Challenge

Larry called us from Rockport, IN with a pretty common, but stressful, problem. Their home - particularly the crawl space - had...an odor. That's the pleasant way he described it, at least. There was no water currently sitting in the crawl space, but there likely had been at some point before. 

Along with this issue, he had noticed that the floors had begun to make noises when they were being walked on, and he had problems with his doors staying shut as well. 

Solution

We sent out Abe Ford, our Residential Pro, and he did an evaluation of the crawl space, walking him through the problems and solutions. Abe gave him a proposal the same day, and from there, the work began.

To help stabilize the floors above, we installed 4 SmartJacks. The SmartJack system provides solid support for sagging and undersized beams, restoring stability and straightness to sagging floor joists in a crawl space.

We then installed the CleanSpace Vapor Barrier system with drainage matting. The drainage matting will allow any ambient moisture that collects the space to condense and drain away while the CleanSpace keeps the crawl space dry and protected.

Finally, in order to keep the crawl space and the house above it protected from the cold ground, we installed Silver-Glo insulation panels. This will prevent the dreaded - and totally preventable - cold floors. 

With the addition of our products to Larry's crawl space, he will be able to spend Christmas without an odor and squeaky floors.
