West Louisville, KY Crawlspace Transformation

Challenge

West Louisville, KY and other surrounding areas all struggle against poor indoor air quality, fungus growth, and moisture intrusion in basements and crawlspaces. The homeowners in this situation had noticed their West Louisville crawlspace had fungal growth on the wooden subfloor joists that was spreading onto the subfloor and down the foundation walls. They elected to have the fungus remediated, but were alarmed to discover that without a permanent reduction in relative humidity, their crawlspace would merely grow fungus again. They decided to have Healthy Spaces come out to provide a comprehensive solution to their problems.

Solution

The Healthy Spaces installation team killed all existing fungus on the wooden subfloor joists, then proceeded to dig out trenches and installed 201 linear feet of EZFlow piping. After that, they installed 2,081 square feet of CleanSpace engineered film, wrapped 8 piers, installed 8 CleanSpace vent covers, and installed a SmartSump system. The entire project was completed in just 4 days!

Here, you can see that the Healthy Spaces installation crew has dug out the trenches for the EZ Flow drainage system and placed the EZ Flow inside.

Here is one of the crawlspace vent covers secured in place to prevent outside humidity from intruding into the crawlspace. By completely sealing off the crawlspace from outside air, it can be conditioned like the rest of the home, which will make it much more energy efficient.

The crawlspace has been completely encapsulated with CleanSpace. CleanSpace is guaranteed against rips, tears, and water on top of the liner.
