Fort Knox, KY Crawlspace Repair Project
Challenge
The homeowners in Fort Knox, KY were struggling with a moldy, damp crawlspace. Due to the seasonal nature of their crawlspace moisture, the homeowners were seasonally remediating their mold. After learning about crawlspace encapsultation options from Damon at Healthy Spaces, they decided to move forward.
When Richard and the installation team arrived onsite, they met with the homeowners and walked through the project. The first step will be to remove the debris from the crawlspace. Next, the installation team will begin mold remediation. After the mold has been treated, they will level out the crawlspace floor, dig the drainage channels, install the sump pump system, and then install the Cleanspace.
Solution
The installation team removed substantial debris prior to the mold remediation. During remediation, the entire crawlspace was disinfected and scrubbed thoroughly. The installers leveled the crawlspace, taking over 14" of dirt from one area of the crawlspace and filling in the holes and sinks in another area. There was one change during installation of the sump pump system. The installers spoke with the homeowners and in order to make the system operate at peak efficiency, they decided to shift the sump pump over 16" in order to allow the discharge line to exit the home at a better location. After that, the team installed over 1700 square feet of drainage matting and CleanSpace.
