Evansville, IN Crawlspace Restoration
Challenge
Evansville, IN, the county seat of Vanderburgh County, is a beautiful place to live. The owners of this home love their 2,271 square foot home with its 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. The only part of the home that haven't loved is the dirt crawlspace. The crawlspace has been flooding and producing a constant stream of mold problems for them. The homeowners have tried many remedies, like altering their landscaping, changing the grade of their yard, digging burms and schwells, but nothing has helped. Finally, they decided to have Daniel Crews with Healthy Spaces come out and give them an estimate to permenantly repair the crawlspace. During the initial evaluation, Daniel discovered the mold had returned and needed to be treated immediately. After the mold was remediated, then the crawlspace could be isolated from the dirt and moisture through encapsulation.
Solution
Daniel and the homeowners decided that encapsulation would not be adequate to remedy the mold problem without some additional items. The first thing that they needed was an EZ Flow drainage pipe system with a SmartSump sump pump and SaniDry air system.
The installation team treated the crawlspace with Bio-cide and Forticell treatments to remediate the mold and fungus. After that was complete, the team removed all contaminated debris. The crawlspace walls were lined with SilverGlo anti-microbial insulation to improve energy efficiency. Next, the team dug out drainage channel and installed the EZ Flow pipe system to direct the groundwater to the SuperSump Sump pump for removal from the crawlspace. The groundwater is directed into the rigid plastic discharge line to a safe distance from the house. This way, the groundwater will not seep back into the crawlspace.
After the EZ Flow Drainage System was complete, the installation crew encapsulated the crawlspace with the rugged, puncture resistant CleanSpace product. Once the crawlspace was isolated from outside air and the groundwater intrusion, it was possible to begin conditioning the air in that space. The homeowners selected the SaniDry CK Air System, which dehumidifies the air and helps their central air and heating work more efficiently.
"We're just thrilled with the system--Healthy Spaces is a great company. No matter your need, they have the personnel to tailor their strengths to your satisfaction. I would highly recommend them!" said the homeowners.
