Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl Space in Mt. Carmel, IL
Stacy G. from Mt. Carmel, IL had lived in her house for a handful of years but knew that moisture and water in her crawl space was a problem. It had always been an out of sight out of mind issue until she discovered that her sump pump in her crawl space wasn't working. Her crawl space had standing water in it, so she decided to give Healthy Spaces a call for her free inspection.
Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham, met with Stacy and performed a thorough inspection of the crawl space.
The Healthy Spaces team installed a new SmartPump which pumps the water out of the crawl space automatically and taken through discharge lines outside the home. We also installed IceGuard to prevent floods from clogged or frozen discharge lines in the colder winter months. To keep the space humidity-free, the SaniDry Sedona was installed. It helps master humidity and is energy star rated which helps you save money on electric bills.
Next, our team installed CleanSpace Drainage Matting under our CleanSpace vapor barrier. Installing Drainage Matting is important because the liner rests directly on the crawl space floor. Should the crawl space flood, water can be trapped underneath, stopping it from making it to the perimeter drain. The raised dimples on the Drainage Matting allows the water to have a channel underneath the crawl space liner. This directs the water flooding to the crawl space drain and sump pump system.
Stacy is very pleased with all of the new products she has installed, mainly because she has no worries about her crawl space anymore.
Standing Water in Crawl Space
Here, you see the pool of water in this Mt. Carmel, IN crawl space. Standing water oftentimes leads to mold which isn't healthy to breathe in. This is where the Stack Effect comes in to play. This creates an airflow in your home from the bottom to top, with 50% of the air you breathe on the first floor is air that came from the crawl space.
Risen Water and Old Vapor Barrier
When you look at this photo, do you notice the black residue on the block walls? This shows us where the water once was in this crawl space. I'm sure that you also noticed the old vapor barrier drowned in water that obviously didn't do its job.
SaniDry Sedona Installed in Crawl Space
Pictured is the world's most efficient high-performance dehumidifier and filtration system. It's designed to eliminate damp, musty, odors in your crawl space by drying and filtering the air.
Isolate the House from the Earth
Now that groundwater is not an issue, you're ready to deal with the water vapor that arrive via exposed earth. The CleanSpace Encapsulation system satisfies all of the repair criteria while dramatically transforming the area into healthy space. This crawl space has no more humidity than the space upstairs.
