Evansville, IN Powerbrace Installation for Foundation Bowing Wall Repair
Challenge
These homeowners in Evansville, IN were noticing that their block concrete foundation walls were bowing and buckling inward seasonally. As the outside soil swelled each Spring, the home experienced a building pressure on the outside, which lead to the walls being pressed inward. The homeowners knew that they needed to brace or anchor the block foundation wall in order to keep it from moving. In addition, there was constant water flowing in to the basement through the seam between the floor and the wall, so basement flooding was a real issue. They elected to contact Healthy Spaces for help with both problems!!
Solution
Damon Cheatham came out to look over the Evansville property and assess it. He and the homeowners decided on a PowerBrace solution for the bowing walls. The Powerbrace application was the best solution because the neighboring property was too close to allow for a lower profile GeoLock Wall Anchoring system. Powerbraces are made of heavy-duty corrosion protected steel beams. These beams are attached to a home permanently in order to stop bowing walls.
The second stage to prevent water intrusion in the basement was to install a super sump and Waterguard perimeter drain system. The Waterguard would allow for the basement to remain dry, while the Powerbraces held back the blocks.
