Ms. R of Madisonville, KY had been dealing with intrusive critters all summer. She was tired of having bugs invading her home through her crawlspace. She decided to contact Healthy Spaces to see about encapsulating her dirt crawlspace to control pest intrusion and water intrusion in one go. Ms. R met with Donnie and they discussed her goals and the best products for her needs. She decided to completely isolate her home from the dirt soil by utilizing CleanSpace Engineered film to encapsulate her crawlspace. CleanSpace is a rugged system guaranteed for 25 years against rips or tears. It keeps water and critters out of crawlspaces and allows HVAC systems to function better by essentially allowing the crawlspace to become conditioned space.
Ms. R said, "Thank you so very much for the photos and update of completion! You all did a great job, I am so sorry for what a messy job I know that was."
These Dawson Springs, KY homeowners are suffering from a flooded basement with fungus problems. Their 971 square foot crawlspace was quite wet and it was a challenge getting it dried out enough to treat the fungus and install the CleanSpace.
The homeowner said, "Tuesday, the installation crew was not able to start the fungus work due to the wood in the crawlspace still being wet. The wood, and the crawlspace had been receiving 24 hour drying assistance for the last 6 days! I was super impressed at how hard the Healthy Spaces crew worked on my space to get it dried out".
The crawl has installed the Everlast door and the team drilled weep holes around the perimeter of at ground level, so the water can flow into the trenches. The team installed the drain system and sump pump. The pipes that they installed in the trenches are 6 inches wide and have a 2 inch corrugated pipe wrapped around netting with peanut white foam inside the netting. This white foam acts as a filter. The crew installed the discharge line with a lawn scape on the end of it.
These Earlington, KY homeowners were at a loss with their basement. Their basement was flooding constantly and when it wasn't actively flooding, it was just wet and icky. That made for one yucky place to hang out, even just to do laundry. "I hate going down there. I do laundry and I think how can our clothes really get clean when the basement is such a wet mess? Worse yet, am I going to get shocked because I'm standing here in wet socks using a washing machine?!" said the homeowner.
Healthy Spaces installed a full interior perimeter drainage system to capture both the wall moisture and the groundwater seeping up along the seam between the wall and floor. This system is called Waterguard. The water from that system would be directed into a TripleSafe sump pump and be pumped out of the basement through a rigid plastic discharge line 20 feet and down-grade from the basement. Now, the basement is dry ALL the time and it's a beautiful place to be!
This White Plains, KY family was experiencing a myriad of issues with their crawlspace. First off, it smelled. “I mean smelled, like really bad. Worse when it rained but always like something was totally dead in there”, said one of kids. Additionally, the crawlspace was clearly molding. There was standing water in some places, and marks along the walls where the water had previously flooded. Finally, the crawlspace was muddy and just horrible. “I’m not going down there. I never go down, you can ask my husband to go in there. There’s stuff in there that I’m just not going to deal with”, said one homeowner.
The Healthy Spaces team came in and installed a full perimeter drainage system, mitigated the mold, installed dimple roll to create a smoother surface, and installed CleanSpace. Cleanspace is an engineered film vapor barrier that is guaranteed against rips, tears, and water on top of the liner for 25 years! The homeowners are very satisfied with the entire project and have already noticed how much better their home smells!
This Hanson, KY family was experiencing problems with their crawlspace. The crawlspace had very low clearance and it made it hard to get in to on a regular basis. It was flooding and damp often. It was smelly and they were concerned about mold issues. Upon arriving at the home, Damon Cheatham was able to see the mold growth clearly on the wooden subfloor and along the HVAC and plumbing systems. The thin, clear vapor barrier was shredded and there were mouse droppings present. He noted that there was water damage along the foundation walls and that the small window in one of the cellar type areas was leaking.
Damon recommended a full mold remediation. After that, he recommended a SilverGlo insulation application covered with CleanSpace engineered film. The crawlspace window needed to be replaced with a vinyl window, and a new sump pump system installed. The homeowners elected to have the entire prescribed system installed as well as a dehumidifier installed to keep the crawlspace conditioned and further inhibit mold growth.
The Healthy Spaces team transformed the crawlspace in less than a week into a beautiful and healthy crawlspace that will stay that way for years to come!
This Mortons Gap, KY home was suffering from numerous problems: the crawlspace was moldy, smelly, and damp. The wooden subfloor supports were bowed. The Support posts were crumbled and in some areas, had collapsed altogether.
The Healthy Spaces team remediated the mold, cleared out all the debris, and installed new metal support beams and posts. The entire installation took just 5 days and the homeowners are thrilled!
The St. Charles, KY, like most of Hopkins County, struggles with elevated groundwater levels and flooding. This is especially true for homes constructed over dirt crawlspaces. This particular home was suffering from consistent, persistent flooding, mold and fungus issues, and weakened wooden supports. In order to repair the home, Healthy Spaces installed a drainage system called EZFlow drainage channels, which allows groundwater to seep into the system from any direction. Once in the system, a powerful SuperSump sump pump pumps the water out of the crawlspace. The rest of the home is isolated from the groundwater with a vapor barrier called CleanSpace. Cleanspace is an engineered film that is guaranteed against ripping, tearing, and water on top of the liner for 25 years. In addition to the Cleanspace, the home also received a rugged, rust-proof subfloor support beam and adjustable teleposts called SmartJacks.
Linda W. from Hanson, KY knew there was more than a foundation problem in her crawl space. The odors of mold were being drawn up from the crawl space began to cause all of her home to smell, as well as occasionally make her sick. She didn't venture to her crawl space often, so she decided to get in touch with Healthy Spaces to get it checked out.
When Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham, came out to inspect the crawl space, he did notice mold there as well as the foundation issues. Moisture inside your home is bad for what's in it, including your belongings and your health. He recommended that the mold gets remediated to provide Linda with a healthy crawl space, solving the unwelcomed smells and occasional sickness that she was experiencing.
Homeowner Brandy L. reached out to Healthy Spaces on Facebook because she had finally had enough with water intruding her basement every time it would rain. Now that the water was finding the path of least resistance into the home, it would sit there for days before the dehumidifier did its job and all the water would be gone. With this sitting water, also came mold. They also began to notice musty smells and knew there was no question of where it was coming from.
We sent a System Design Specialist to Brandy's home to check everything out and talk through her problems. The solution that our Design Specialist offered was, first of all, cleaning up and remediating all of the molds. Next, she recommended installing a WaterGuard system and a new TripleSafe sump pump. That way, when it rained, the water would be directed to the sump pump and not puddle on the floor. The cherry on top of this system is the SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. This dehumidifier eliminates damp, musty odors by drying and filtering air and dumps it straight into your sump pump, leaving no work for you
