Stabilizing Crawl Space Floor in Owensville, IN

Contractor in Owensville, IN was working with the owner of a commercial building. After doing an inspection of the crawl space, he saw some major concerns that were outside his scope of work. He called Healthy Spaces to get set up for a free inspection, together they all devised a plan to ensure the crawl space problems were fixed permanently!

In the before photo, you can actually see where one of the concrete columns is leaning to the right. Additional problems we found, the crawl space jacks had no support, with mainly concrete blocks and pieces of wood "shimmied" in between the open gaps. Our foundation installers first needed to replace some of the damaged supplemental beam and joist repair before installing 8 SmartJacks in the crawl space. SmartJacks are used to permanently stabilize and level the girders and floor joists in a crawl space. They do not replace the existing columns and piers but add strength and stability to what is there.

If you'd like a permanent solution for your crawl space issues or any other foundation problem, we're ready to help you!

Basement Waterproofing Stops Water Intrusion in Calhoun, KY

Homeowners Roger and Zelda H. from Calhoun, Kentucky were experiencing water flooding into their basement with rains. As time went on, the problem got worse. They constantly had fans running in hopes of keeping the water under control. With the problem worsening, they decided to call for help.

System Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham, came to the rescue! He inspected the basement and presented them with a same-day quote before he left. The homeowners agree to have the work done and they got their project scheduled. They were starting with a WaterGuard system that wraps around the perimeter of the basement and takes water directly to the sump pump. They also added CleanSpace on the walls to protect mold growth and well as water. This gives it a nice clean finish without ever having to worry about wet drywall again.

The homeowners are thrilled with how this project turned out and aren't dreading the next rainfall.

Leaking Windows in Calhoun, KY

When there is water outside of a basement window, it will leak into the basement. This was exactly the case our homeowner in Calhoun, KY was experiencing! Healthy Spaces installed two EverLast Basement Windows, which are energy-efficient, vinyl-framed replacement windows. Designed with double-paned, low E glass, they are much more energy-efficient than the single-paned, steel-framed windows that are the industry standard. Basement Waterproofing System Installed in Island, KY

Water in the basement is never a good thing because it leads to increased moisture, mold, and an unhappy homeowner. This Island, KY homeowner was feeling all of these things. She finally decided to call Healthy Spaces for a free inspection.

Upon receiving Mary's call for help, Design Specialist, Mike McAtee was scheduled to do a thorough inspection of her basement. When he arrived, they greeted each other with a smile and the work began. He recommended that a new drainage system be installed to prevent any more leaking. This drainage system would be under the concrete, so it wouldn't be noticeable. It runs straight to the new TripleSafe sump pump that was also installed.

Poseyville, IN Crawlspace Mold Remediation

Mold is a serious health concern and many of the homes in the Poseville area suffer from it.  Mold occurs when the indoor humidity levels are high, the area is warm, and there is organic material for the mold to feed on.  This set of criteria describes crawlspaces perfectly.  From the dirt floor to the wooden sub-floor joists, there is a great deal of organic material for mold to feed on.  Here, you can see the mold and fungus growing along the wooden joists in this crawlspace.  The whitish blobs are actually spider sacks (the closer white mark in the upper left) and fungal growth (present on second joist from the front).  In the second picture, you can see the first joist has received a mold treatment and scrub down to remove the fungus.  For contrast, you can still see the Mold-X treatment on the bottom of the joist, which will be scrubbed next.  Mold removal isn't going to fix this crawlspace because the underlying humidity issues are still present.  After the mold has been removed, the entire crawlspace will be encapsulated with CleanSpace, the most technologically advanced vapor barrier on the market.  It's going to reduce water intrusion and allow the crawlspace to be "conditioned space" when a dehumidifier called a SaniDry is installed.
