In Evansville, IN, a homeowner was dealing with moisture in the crawl space. The moisture and humidity had created a great place for mold to form, causing allergies for the owner. Some mold spores produce a chemical byproduct called mycotoxins. Mycotoxins begin when other species compete for space which then causes chemical warfare on molds. The compounds can affect your respiratory system. Although you can not see mycotoxins, some may detect a musty smell in the home or space that they are present in. The homeowner was ready to begin the mold remediation process to prevent mold from forming again and encapsulating the crawl space.
The first step in a healthy crawl space is removing any unhealthy growth, such as mold. Through mold remediation, all affected and unaffected organic surfaces are scrubbed and treated. Next, drainage matting is laid on the floor to direct water to the sump pump. SilverGlo insulation is put on the walls to reflect heat and lower the material's conductivity. Lastly, the crowd favorite, CleanSpace is secured on the walls and floor to protect the vapor barrier. The homeowner was relieved to find the CleanSpace healthy, protecting him from allergies in the future.
In Evansville, Indiana, a homeowner contacted Healthy Spaces for a free inspection. He knew something was not right when the home started to have a musty smell. Upon inspection, we found mold on a few of the wooden beams of the space along with standing water on the ground. Two culprits caused the musty smell and gave access for water to enter in. The access well did not have a proper door that tightly sealed the space while the ground did not have a protective covering to protect the vapor barrier. Once the inspection was completed and a few solutions were discussed and finalized, it was ready to start encapsulation.
Encapsulation includes CleanSpace and the drainage matting combo. The dimpled matting holds water and directs it to the SmartSump that was installed. CleanSpace is sealed on top to prevent water vapor from coming inside through the ground and walls. The SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier is a high-quality, high-efficiency dehumidifier system that constantly creates a dry-air flow. Lastly, the old access well door is replaced with an EverLast panel to tightly seal the crawl space shut.
Most crawl spaces have fiberglass insulation on the ceiling. The insulation itself is not as useful compared to encapsulating the crawl space, but when there is moisture in the crawl space, then it becomes entirely useless. In Owensboro, Kentucky, a homeowner had fiberglass insulation that was starting to droop or fall because there was moisture and humidity present. The homeowner decided to contact Healthy Spaces to come out and encapsulate the crawl.
To control the amount of water that came in through the dirt floor, a drainage matting it laid down to direct water flow towards the sump pump. Next, CleanSpace is sealed on the floor and walls to protect against water vapor. SilverGlow insulation in also been installed on the walls to add insulation. This system is effective at reducing energy costs. All fiberglass insulation is taken out and the new waterproofing system will prevent moisture from appearing again.
A homeowner in Bremen, Kentucky had noticed for some time that his foundation was settling. There were cracks on the outside of the home's foundation which indicated that it needed a permanent solution to stop the process from further damage to the home. What had caused the foundation to crack was the moisture in the wooden beams that held the floor up. One of the columns had thin wooden boards stuffed to keep the floor partly stable. The crawl space needed the foundation lifted and encapsulated.
One SmartJack was used to replace the concrete blocks and wooden boards that previously attempted to hold the foundation. Next, the CleanSpace and drainage matting combination is set to be completed. The drainage matting will catch water from the ground and store it in the dimples to prevent the CleanSpace that is installed on top from bubbling and flooding underneath. The water that does come through the dirt ground will be carried to the SmartSump. Once the home was stabilized and encapsulated, the homeowner was elated by the transformation.
Having a waterproofed crawl space means that you can have a worry-free mind every time it rains. A couple in Boonville, Indiana had reached out to Healthy Spaces after visiting one of our social media posts about crawl space encapsulation. The encapsulation had interested the couple in waterproofing their crawl. On the day of the inspection, there were signs of water coming into the crawl space and it was humid.
The two openings were tightly secured with new access well such as the EverLast crawl space door. To control the amount of water that came up through the dirt floor, the dimpled polyethylene membrane matting is sprawled out. The matting directs the water towards the sump which will then carry the water out and away from the home. CleanSpace is fastened to the upper parts of the walls and on top of the drainage matting. CleanSpace has multiple layers of plastic with different characteristics of flexibility and puncture and tears resistance. The dream of encapsulating the homeowners' crawl space had finally come true and we were happy to be a part of it.
